Original Artwork, Rooted in Place.
I create original hand-carved linocuts that interpret places: homes, landscapes, gardens, gathering spaces, retreats, inns, and destinations shaped by their relationship with the natural world.
Commissions are available in two forms:
a Place Portrait created from existing photography
a Residency Commission created through firsthand observation and time spent within the landscape
Place Portrait
$1500
A hand-carved portrait of a meaningful place, created from your* photography.
You provide a selection of photographs of your space. I’ll review the imagery, choose the strongest direction, and create an original linocut in my highly detailed, hand-carved style.
Your commission includes:
4 × 6 hand-carved linocut
One signed print from an edition of 10
Professional matting + framing
One composition approval before carving
Remaining edition reserved for you
Approximately 3-4 week completion
*Prefer that I photograph your space?
On-location observation and photography can be added to select commissions within approximately two hours of Richmond, Virginia.
+ $500
Residency Commission
From $5000
Original artwork developed through time spent within the place itself.
Residency commissions begin with a three-night stay. I’ll walk the property, observing and photographing the landscape, architecture, flora, wildlife, and quiet details that give the place its character. Those observations become the source material for an original linocut created specifically for the property.
Your residency includes:
Three-night artist stay
Firsthand observation + photography
4 × 6 hand-carved linocut
One signed print from an edition of 10
Professional matting + framing
10 original photos from the residency and process
Final artwork within approximately four weeks
Travel, accommodations, and meals are provided by the commissioning property.
Currently accepting select residencies in Virginia, the Mid-Atlantic and along the East Coast.
